Our client's senior management are experts in their own sectors.
But they don't always have the same experience or expertise in dealing
with the media, talking to politicians, running a hostile public meeting
or understanding how UK or EU institutions formulate policy. Yet these
are the challenges they may well face.
Chelgate offers tailor-made skills development programmes, ranging from
media training and crisis management to courses on political affairs.
The form of each programme varies. It can be geared to a single individual,
or structured for working groups. It may be general, perhaps a module in
a broader programme. Recent examples have included sessions on the workings
of the EU institutions, the Westminster legislative process, how a local
council is run and how the media make editorial judgements. Or it may be
very immediate and specific. We have carried out rehearsal and preparation
sessions for executives before they appear before a Commons Select Committee,
or have to meet officials writing new regulations, or face the media in
full cry.
Whatever the need, the session is tailored according to individual clients'
needs. And it is undertaken by people with relevant direct personal experience.
