Chelgate has considerable experience and expertise in property and construction, operating in the sector for more than 20 years. During that time, we have worked for many well-known companies across the spectrum of the industry. Clients have included architects, planning consultants, house builders, building contractors, facilities managers, structural engineers, building services consultants and contractors, land assembly companies, project managers, quantity surveyors, construction managers, counter terrorism and security consultants, ground engineers, Europe’s largest health and safety professional body, and the UK’s largest cable company.
Projects we have supported have included a one million square foot regeneration project in central London, the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial, the remodelling of Trafalgar Square, new settlements in Northampton, Devon and Cheshire, the Welsh Assembly building, new bypass and associated development in Leicestershire, PPP road enhancement and maintenance contract in Kent, a new nuclear waste repository in Cumbria, a PPP hospital development in Swindon, garrison barracks refurbishment in Glasgow, large scale cabling projects in Scotland, Yorkshire, Surrey, Wales and Northern Ireland, new leisure villages in Wiltshire and Bedfordshire, various new office and retail buildings, and numerous house and apartment developments across the UK.
Chelgate’s Property and Development division is headed by Michael Hardware, who is probably unique in the industry. Not only does he have 20 years’ construction and property development background, he is also a regular editorial contributor to several of the trade publications in the sector. He has been a member of the International Association of Construction, Design and Property Press (IBP) for 20 years, serving on the executive committee for five years, three as national treasurer. He has also sat on the executive committees of the construction industry groups in the Chartered Institute of Marketing and Chartered Institute of Public Relations, and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists.
He is supported by a strong executive team which has many years’ experience in journalism, local government, construction, transport, and public affairs including several former parliamentary candidates, experts in environmental issues, and specialists in crisis and acute issues management.
