CHELGATE’S ELECTION CHAMPAGNE COMPETITION’S WINNING RESULTS
Finally, after a short delay caused by the late Thirsk and Malton election, Chelgate has announced the results of its hotly contested General Election competition where cases of bubbly were at stake.
In the competition, contestants had to estimate the winning margin of the largest party. The Conservatives won by 2,117,087 votes, with the party collecting 10,726,614 votes against Labours’ 8,609,527 votes.
Andy Dowland, from Yeovil, who won the overall competition, received a double case of champagne. He entered an impressive guess of 2,150,000, only 32,913 over the actual margin. Andy said: “I am really delighted and actually quite surprised to have won the Chelgate competition. I know that there were a lot of entries, including from people who might be described as political professionals. But this election result certainly seemed to surprise the experts, and the pollsters. ”
The monthly prize winners, who each received a case of champagne, were: a Clapham resident, who guessed 2,165,234, just 48,147 out, winning March’s competition, and a winner in April from Godalming, Surrey, with an entry of 2,010,056, just 107,031 out.
Chelgate, established for over two decades, is an independent international public affairs and public relations firm, headquartered in London with offices in Brussels and Bucharest.
