CHELGATE HIRES TIM ARNOLD AS DIRECTOR, COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES
May 2008
Chelgate have appointed former Sky News anchor Tim Arnold as Director, Communications Services at the London office.
Tim, 47, who has been described by ABC News of America as "one of Europe's leading spin doctors" is heading the specialist media relations service. As well as addressing areas of traditional print and broadcast media, he will also have responsibility for driving Chelgate’s internet communications, including social media services, and for running media training sessions for clients.
In recent years, Tim has made the move from journalism to corporate communications. He has been responsible for devising and implementing programmes for a wide variety of clients, from mergers and acquisitions, to corporate repositioning and internal communications.
Tim’s City experience has involved advising clients such as The ACCA, Amicus the Finance Union, and the Financial Services Commission of Gibraltar.
He has also advised many organisations on crisis management, including water companies, railway firms, multi-national conglomerates, and the Port of London Authority, where he dealt with the Marchioness Disaster Inquiry.
His internal communications experience includes working with clients including First Great Eastern, preparing clients to appear before Parliamentary committees, and he has also devised and delivered consumer campaigns for Network South East.
As a journalist Tim has contributed to a wide range of publications over the years, both at home and abroad, and has also had a distinguished agency career with The Associated Press and Reuters.
He worked as a BBC TV reporter in Belfast, when he also contributed to many overseas news outlets, including ABC New York.
He covered the Sino-British Accord for Commercial Radio Hong Kong and was the first solo news anchor on Sky News.
Tim says: "I decided to join Chelgate because of its credibility in international media and issues management. It offers me the chance of doing intellectually demanding work at a high level."
Chelgate’s Chairman, Terence Fane-Saunders says: "Tim brings an extraordinary wealth of experience with him, both in the media and in strategic public relations. His expertise in crisis and acute issue management will be particularly important for us, as this is one of the areas in which Chelgate has built a particular reputation. "
