HOW SHOULD ETHICAL FIRMS ENGAGE ZIMBABWE?
04 July 2008

Opposition groups in Harare say companies like Anglo American should not operate there. The MDC, or Movement for Democratic Change, says foreign currency from mines props up the Mugabe regime.

Chelgate Executive Chairman Terence Fane-Saunders has years of experience working in international markets, including Africa, advising a variety of governments, firms, and individuals on issues and reputation management.

He spoke to BBC World Service’s Europe Today programme about the dilemma facing firms who are interested in ethical business practices, or “corporate social responsibility” in Africa.
