WHITEHALL COMES TO LONDON BRIDGE
4 March 2004
Senior Whitehall insider William Macintyre is joining corporate PR and public affairs consultancy Chelgate Ltd as Executive Vice-President.
An expert on the interface between government and business, especially the ITEC and energy sectors, William was for eight years head of the Communication and Information Industries Directorate of the DTI. He led it from its inception as it drove the UK's plans to be a leader in the information age, especially for communications and e-business. Previous major roles included the privatisation of both the electricity and coal industries and managing the Energy Efficiency office.
Joining Chelgate at their offices near London Bridge, William says that he is going to the consultancy because: "Its approach to relationship management accords with my own and is the kind of environment where I think I can make the greatest contribution."
Chelgate Chairman and Chief Executive, Terence Fane-Saunders said: "By acting as an interface between government and industry, William adds real strength to our ability to advise clients on how each works. His direct personal experience of policy formation at the highest level will allow businesses not only to understand how government policy thinking will affect them but also to undertake the detailed projection of scenarios and outcomes which is central to far-sighted political risk analysis."
