SUPER NAG
12 February 2004
Disappointing news about Chelgate's super-nag, Positive Profile. After chalking up nine racecourse wins in a little over a year, poor "Pozzy" developed a tendon problem. It's not too serious, and he's expected to make a full recovery, but these things take time to mend. So he'll be off course for much of the rest of this year.
To fill the unexpected gap, Chelgate's equine experts went shopping, and bought a four-year old filly for the firm, named "Call Me Sunshine". She had run a few times before joining the Chelgate "stable", showing promise, but not yet winning. This all changed as soon as she appeared in Chelgate "colours". Having her first run for us, she staged a storming finish in a mile and a quarter race at Wolverhampton, to snatch the race on the line, at the rewarding odds of 5-1. Sadly, on this occasion, there was no-one from the Chelgate team present to lead our winner in, but the sound of corks popping in Tanner Street was deafening.
With several Chelgate clients having interests in racing, betting and gaming, our Super-nags are giving us very special access and insight across important parts of our clients' markets. As Chairman, Terence Fane-Saunders says, "It's always delightful when business and pleasure coincide. But when the fun element turns out to be profitable in its own right, it's simply magic!"
