GENERAL ELECTION 2005 COMPETITION - RESULTS
CONGRATULATIONS to Louis Eustace, Research Assistant to Judy Mallaber
MP,
on his
election forecast in our Champagne election competition. Louis wins a
case
of
champagne for coming closest of all entrants to forecasting the margin of
victory by
Labour over the Conservatives with an estimate of 800,000 votes.
The actual figure was 783,585 as Labour collected 9,556,183 votes
compared to the
Tories 8,772,598. A smaller margin of victory than most predicted
(only
three
entrants predicted a Conservative victory) but one that still translated
into a
comfortable win and a 67 seat majority for Labour.
